The Talavera ceramic tradition descended from the Spanish majolica pottery, and is named “Talavera” after the Spanish city of its origin. Initially created at guilds in Puebla, it continues to be made there as well as the town of Dolores Hidalgo. Blending Spanish motifs and Mexican artistic sensibilities, Talavera ceramic ware has a look all its own, and is collected worldwide.
