Margot van Voorhies Carr, an established San Francisco artist, became immersed in the Taxco jewelry tradition during the 1930s as a designer for her husband’s taller, Taller de Las Delicias. As the wife of Antonio Castillo, Margot used her artistic abilities to influence the designs for the firm. In 1948, she left Taller de Las Delicias, and founded her own workshop, naming it Margot de Taxco. There she developed her unique designs taking inspiration from Japanese art as well as the Art Deco period.
