Beautiful Martina Basket is delicately handwoven of pajón, a native grass of the Guatemalan Highlands, and sustainably harvest longleaf pine needles with raffia accents. Designed and handmade by the women of Mayan Hands El Triunfo cooperative, this basket is a wonderful wall or tabletop accent, but was designed to be used!
The baskets are woven in the Guatemalan Highlands by cooperatives of women who work to support their families and communities. Working within a democratically organized group insures that the income is fairly distributed among all artisans in the coop and allows members to participate in decisions about their work. Coop members share skills and expertise, encourage one another and enjoy mutual support.
