The discovery of tourmaline occurred during the 1500s in Brazil, where it was mistaken for emerald. Tourmaline’s wide spectrum of colors earned its name from the Sinhalese word for “mixed gems”- green tourmalines are the most popular iteration and a studio favorite for their lush and organic refinement, but each variety seems to hold the most beautiful shades of every color.
